Frequently asked questions

Still have you any qustion?

(01) What is the difference between coaching, counselling, and psychotherapy?
This is a key question that many have but are unsure if they should ask.
Although these approaches share the common goal of supporting personal growth and wellbeing, they differ in their focus.

Coaching
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. It helps individuals identify goals, overcome obstacles, build confidence, improve performance, and create meaningful change. Coaching assumes that you are psychologically well and looking to move forward personally or professionally.
Coaching may be suitable if you want to:
● Build self-confidence or self-worth
● Improve emotional resilience
● Navigate career or life transitions
● Develop healthier habits
● Improve leadership or communication skills
● Clarify goals and create an action plan.

Counselling
Counselling provides a supportive and confidential space to explore current life challenges, emotional difficulties, relationships, grief, stress, or significant life changes. It focuses on understanding your experiences, processing emotions, and developing healthier ways of coping. It also tends to have a ‘stop-gap’ nature to it; i.e. the place you might suddenly run to even if it’s just because you need a listening ear.
Counselling may be suitable if you are experiencing:
● Anxiety or stress
● Relationship difficulties
● Grief or loss
● Workplace challenges
● Low mood
● Significant life changes

Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy explores deeper emotional patterns, longstanding beliefs, and the experiences that may continue to influence your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. Therapy often focuses on understanding the underlying causes of emotional distress and supporting lasting psychological change.
Psychotherapy may be appropriate if you wish to explore:
● Long-standing emotional patterns
● Certain chronic psychological disorders such as PTSD, Bipolar, depression etc.
● Childhood experiences
● Trauma (where appropriate)
● Persistent low self-esteem
● Identity and self-worth
● Repeated relationship patterns
● Emotional healing and personal transformation
(02) How do I know which service is right for me?
You don't need to know before contacting me.
Many clients aren't sure whether coaching, counselling, or psychotherapy would best meet their needs, and that's completely normal.
Our initial consultation allows us to discuss your goals, current challenges, and expectations. Together, we'll determine the most appropriate approach for your circumstances.
Sometimes coaching is the best fit.
Sometimes counselling or psychotherapy offers greater benefit.
In some cases, elements of these approaches may complement one another while remaining within clear professional and ethical boundaries.
(03) How long is each session?
Individual sessions typically last 50–60 minutes.
Extended sessions or workshops may be available depending on your needs and will be discussed in advance.
(04) What happens during a session?
Every session is tailored to you of course.
During our work together, you can expect a safe, respectful, and confidential environment where we will:
● Explore your concerns and goals
● Understand the thoughts, emotions, and patterns influencing your experiences
● Identify strengths and personal resources
● Develop practical strategies where appropriate
● Reflect on progress and celebrate meaningful change
There is no pressure to share anything before you are ready. We work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
(05) How should I prepare for a session?
No special preparation is required.
However, you may find it helpful to reflect on:
● What prompted you to seek support now?
● What would you like to achieve?
● What challenges are you currently facing?
● Are there situations or experiences you would like to explore?
You may also wish to bring a notebook to record insights or reflections.
Most importantly, simply come with an open mind.
(06) Is everything I share confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of our work together.
Information shared during sessions remains confidential except in circumstances where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or
(07) How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number of sessions.
Some clients achieve their goals within a few sessions, while others choose to work together over several months to explore deeper patterns and create lasting change.
The duration depends on your goals, preferences, and the nature of the issues you wish to address.
(08) Do you offer online sessions?
Yes; in fact most if not all private sessions will be conducted online with a few exceptions.
This allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home or office.
If in-person sessions are required, this will be discussed during the booking process.
(09) Will you give me advice?
Rather than telling you what to do, my role is to help you gain greater insight, clarity, and confidence so you can make informed decisions that align with your values and goals.
Together, we'll explore options, develop practical strategies, and build the skills needed for lasting change.
(10) What if I become emotional during a session?
Emotions are a natural part of the therapeutic process.
Many clients worry about becoming upset or crying during a session. Please know that this is completely normal and there is no expectation to "hold it together."
Our sessions are a safe space where you can express yourself without fear of judgement.
(11) What if I'm nervous about starting?
Almost everyone feels nervous before their first session.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, especially if you've never spoken to a psychologist, counsellor, or coach before.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Often, the first session is simply about getting to know one another, understanding your goals, and deciding how we can work together.
(12) Do you work with organisations and teams?
Yes.
In addition to individual sessions, I offer workshops, talks, and training programmes for organisations on topics including:
● Self-worth and Confidence
● Emotional resilience
● Developing Empathy
● Psychological Safety
● Burnout Prevention
● Communication and Wellbeing
● Personal and Professional development
Programme can be tailored to meet the needs of your organization.
(13) How do I book a session?
Booking is simple.
Complete the enquiry form or contact me directly using the details provided on the Contact page. I'll respond as soon as possible to discuss your needs and arrange an initial consultation.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and lasting personal growth.
